We are the Year 2 children. There are 30 children in our class (15 girls and 15 boys). Our class teachers are Miss Smith and Mr Daly. Mrs Loveday and Mrs Phillips will also be working in our class during the week.
Our classroom is in the Year 1/2 area and it is always an exciting place to be! Year 2 is a time when we learn lots of new skills but we like to have fun when discovering new things! Some of our favourite lessons are writing, maths, handwriting, PE and art. We also love eating at lunch time!
On Wednesday 12th July, it was our transition day. We got to do lots of fun activities, including designing our very own Mr Potato heads, making toy story characters from play dough, painting portraits and finally creating little facts all about us! We also had a whole class photograph so we can see how much we change during the year!
Our first week back was our ‘learning to learn’ week. We all settled in really well on our first day and enjoyed exploring our new classroom, trying to find where lots of things were kept. We created our own class charter, thinking about our rights and responsibilities, this is now on our wall so we can remind ourselves of it every day. We also used our art skills to create beautiful animals for our beastly brilliance display so we can remember all the important characteristics we will aim to show in school every day. We have practised some maths skills and our handwriting so we are ready for lots of new learning next week.
Our first topic is ‘The Magical Toymaker’. We are learning all about toys, focusing on Toy Story and then older Victorian toys.
